Tyrus Mason Jeweller

A fascination for stones, fossils and crystals filled my childhood adventures. It’s no wonder I followed in the footsteps of my late father, Tasmanian jeweller Phill Mason.
My jewellery continues the strong Mason signature style that is instantly recognizable. But it also feels like I have finally found my own groove. Architecture has always been my biggest influence, and I find that art deco, gothic and medieval styles are increasingly informing my artistic journey.
Growing up in a house filled with antiques and collectables sparked my imagination. I find myself naturally drawn to symmetry, balance and geometry. But I also work intuitively without drawing or sketching which allows for a playfulness during fabrication.
I loved growing up in Tasmania. The relaxed environment right on nature’s doorstep and close-knit community really helped to foster my creativity. It lets you sing your own song a little louder.
It is an honour to carry on my father’s legacy. I take great pride in my work and feel privileged to be making make special pieces of jewellery and heirlooms that can be passed down through the generations.
