Helen Mueller Printmaker
My primary interest is the local, natural environment, and now more than ever, forests.
I am moved to respond both to the beauty of these places and the weight of history they carry.
I work mostly in the medium of woodcut with an emphasis on material and process whereby the wood of my woodblocks also describes my subject matter, and the paper is an integral part of the work rather than simply a substrate. My hand-carved woodblocks are a starting point in the printing process and the work evolves in the making of it.
