My parents were migrants, and I remember we had some Van Gogh prints in our lounge room which fascinated me. As a child I was always drawing, and this eventually led me down the path of teaching art.
After retiring in 2020 I have been able to spend more time in the studio which is wonderful. I am always striving to become increasingly proficient as an artist. Making well-crafted and well-resolved images has been my lifelong goal.
My paintings have varied from abstraction in the early part of my career through to symbolic landscape. Currently I am exploring the ambiguities and complexities of contemporary life by taking familiar scenes and re-creating them as unfamiliar enigmatic spaces.
About ten years ago I started to feel more confident about my artwork and began exhibiting again after a long break. Having to re-establish myself as an artist has been challenging, but I am excited by all the opportunities presented.
Like so many Tasmanians I love our lifestyle. This is an exceptional place to live and work. There is also a vibrant arts community producing a wide range of very high-quality work.
